Samsung has made a fridge with a digital display which has recieved a lot of critique for its’ bad design and user experience.

how might we improve the current design and user experience of Samsung’s display whilst connecting it to UN:s goal 12.8? build a concept app for the display for users to buy groceries and live a more durable life style. have AI implements in mind.

process

to do a redesign I had to first do research on what the Samsung display looked like and what other fridges had digital display and how they used them. I did this through chatgpt, making a SWOT-analysis on both smart fridges and online grocery shopping.

I sent out google forms asking people what their thoughts on the display was like and if they would use a smart fridge. after researching it for a bit I realized they were using a very old style of tablet design. with that in mind I started doing wireframes and iterate what the display could look like.

results

results are as following: 1. new ui for the fridge that matches other Samsung products. 2. a landing page for the application ‘ecoland’. 3. a thought out AI-function within ecoland. 4. a page for your favourite items.
